Energy Efficiency/ENERGY STAR®

Heating and cooling a home uses a lot of energy. In fact, it typically makes up more than half of your utility bills.* So if you’re looking to save money on energy costs, it makes sense to choose the most efficient heating and cooling system for your home and budget.

High-efficiency units will use less energy to provide the same amount of heating or cooling as standard-efficiency equipment. Different terms can be used to describe the efficiency of different units, but the basic idea is the same: The higher the efficiency rating, the more energy and money you’ll save.

Concord’s most efficient units are ENERGY STAR® qualified, which means they meet or exceed government requirements for energy efficiency. These units not only offer the most utility savings, but also may help you qualify for local utility energy efficiency and government incentive programs, rebates and tax credits.

Air Conditioner Efficiency

An air conditioner’s efficiency is measured in SEER, or Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio. The U.S. government sets minimum levels at 13.0 SEER, but for significant energy savings, Concord® offers air conditioners with up to 18.0 SEER.

Furnace Efficiency

AFUE, or Annualized Fuel Utilization Efficiency, is a measure of a furnace’s efficiency. AFUE ratings can vary from 78% all the way up to 98%. The U.S. Department of Energy requires a minimum efficiency of 78% AFUE, while the Canadian minimum is 90%.

Heat Pump Efficiency

Heat pumps are typically used to heat and cool homes in mild climates. For that reason, each unit will have a SEER rating (for cooling efficiency) and an HSPF, or Heating Seasonal Performance Factor, rating (for heating efficiency). Concord heat pumps range from 8.0 HSPF and 13.0 SEER all the way up to 9.2 HSPF and 18.0 SEER.
